Mates In Construction
Phil Hortz was raised and lives on the Gold Coast, is married with four grown up sons (but do they ever grow up). He has had a varied work life. From starting out as a 15-year-old, and the second youngest, Cadet to enter the Queensland Police Force, 10 years in the management and administration of Rugby League in the Queensland Rugby League and the Brisbane Broncos, to entering and working in the Construction Industry for 14 years on numerous projects throughout Queensland as a Community Relations Manager.
Having been involved in Mates in Construction (MIC) as a volunteer from its inception in Queensland in 2008, Phil found his real passion when he joined Mates in Construction in June 2013 as a full time employee. He is the MIC Field Officer for the northern suburbs of the Gold Coast to Beenleigh and west to Gatton.
Through his passion and commitment, professional and personal experiences, Phil has the ability to play a huge role in improving the mental health and the awareness and prevention of suicide, not only in the Construction Industry, but in our wider community.
